Excited to reach out in our community, recently my husband and I went over to the house of some new friends, Mark and Etsuko. We wanted to ask if they would be interested in doing an LTG (Life Transformation Group) with us. (LTG) is made up of two or three people of the same gender who meet weekly, to discuss their daily Bible reading, to ask each other character-building questions and to pray for pre-Christian family and friends.
With the TV blaring and kids crying it was difficult to communicate our hearts to them. They seemed distracted and disinterested. Disappointed, we went home, let it go, and assumed that the Lord would send someone else our way.
A couple of days ago Etsuko came over and said, “Hey, Mark and I talked, and we really want to do that LTG thing with you guys”. I was shocked at her eagerness. I had no idea the seed we had planted had taken root so effectively!
The moral of this story is: In doing what we see the Father doing and planting seeds of the gospel, don’t be too discouraged if the soil of a person’s heart doesn’t seem fertile and they seem to lack interest. God is the one who sees the heart, and he provides the growth for the seed you planted. You just may be suprised to see a healthy plant come out of a soil that you thought was dry and dead.
Wow, thanks for this post. It really hits home since it’s right along the lines of what I’ve been learning lately. It was so cool to meet you and your husband at the conference.
It sounds like an experience you and Matthew just had with your neighbors! God is moving, we just have to keep up!
